Week of OCTOBER 26
With American red snapper season officially behind us, it’s time to shift our attention back to some of our favorite offshore species here in Southwest Florida. Red grouper and yellowtail snapper are once again taking center stage as we settle into our fall fishing routine aboard Lucky Strike Fishing Charter.
Red grouper are a staple of our Naples offshore fishing trips, and they’re a big part of what we love about fishing the Gulf. As the seasons change, we’ll continue working our favorite bottom fishing areas in search of quality grouper. These fish are always a favorite among our customers, both for the fight and the excellent table fare.
The yellowtail snapper fishing has been one of the biggest stories of the year. We’ve seen some incredible action over the past several months, with both the numbers and size of these fish exceeding expectations. We’re hoping that momentum carries into November and keeps the rods bending as we head toward winter.
With the first cold fronts of the season starting to become a factor, picking the right days to get offshore becomes increasingly important. Fall fishing in Naples can offer some great opportunities, and we’re looking forward to seeing how the bite develops as water temperatures begin to change.

Week of OCTOBER 20
Mother Nature didn’t give us as many opportunities to get offshore as we would’ve liked this week. The weather kept us at the dock more than usual, but we’re still coming off a great stretch of fishing aboard Lucky Strike Fishing Charter out of Naples, Florida.
With American red snapper season officially closed after this week, we’re looking back on another successful season. We finished strong, with some great catches and plenty of memories made along the way. While we’re sad to see the season end, there’s still plenty to look forward to as we transition into our fall and winter fishing.
One of the biggest highlights of this entire year has been the yellowtail snapper fishing. The bite has been absolutely off the charts, and it’s not just the number of fish we’re catching. The size and quality of these yellowtails have been exceptional, making this one of the most impressive stretches of yellowtail fishing we’ve experienced in quite some time.
As we move farther into fall, we’ll be watching the weather closely and looking forward to getting back into our regular offshore routine. With red snapper season behind us, our attention will turn to the other great fishing opportunities the Gulf has to offer.

Week of October 12
With American red snapper season quickly coming to a close, we’ve been making the most of every opportunity to get offshore and target these fish. Most of our trips aboard Lucky Strike Fishing Charter have been focused on red snapper, and with October 25 being the final day of the season, we’re trying to squeeze in as much action as possible before the closure.
While red snapper have been the main attraction, we’ve had some great variety mixed into our catches. A few mutton snapper have made an appearance, which is always a welcome surprise. We also landed a really nice gag grouper this week. With gag grouper currently out of season, we made sure to release it back into the Gulf.
The yellowtail snapper bite has been nothing short of incredible! These fish have been fired up, providing some of the fastest action we’ve seen lately. When the yellowtails start chewing, it’s hard to beat the nonstop excitement they bring to the boat.
Of course, our staple red grouper haven’t gone anywhere. Once we’ve taken care of our red snapper fishing, we’ve been spending time targeting red grouper, and the bite has remained solid. It’s been a great way to round out our offshore trips and put together a nice variety of fish.
As we head into the second half of October, the focus is on finishing red snapper season strong. Between the occasional mutton snapper, aggressive yellowtails, and reliable grouper fishing, there’s been no shortage of action offshore of Naples, Florida.

Week of October 5
October is off to an exciting start aboard Lucky Strike Fishing Charter! We’ve had a good variety of fish showing up on our offshore trips, with American red snapper, goliath grouper, and cobia providing some memorable action out in the Gulf.
American red snapper continue to be a major focus as we approach the end of the season. These fish have kept us busy throughout the summer, and we’re making the most of the remaining opportunities to target them. With October 25 marking the final day of the season, the clock is ticking for anyone hoping to get in on the red snapper fishing before it closes.
We’ve also had some exciting encounters with goliath grouper. These massive fish are known for their incredible strength and can turn an ordinary fishing trip into a serious battle in a matter of seconds. There’s nothing quite like watching someone experience the power of a goliath grouper for the first time!
Another highlight this week has been the cobia. They’re always a welcome sight offshore, and their appearance adds a little extra excitement to the day. Cobia are strong fighters, and you never know when one might show up while we’re working our offshore fishing spots.
As we move deeper into October, we’re keeping a close eye on the changing weather patterns and approaching cold fronts. Fall is always an interesting time for offshore fishing in Southwest Florida, and we’re looking forward to what the coming weeks will bring.
